Practical Cloth Making
Practical Cloth Making
Using the sensibilities and practicality born of Japanese boro techniques and sashiko stitching, let’s make whole cloth from scraps! These whole cloths can be used for a wide variety of finished projects from pillows, wall pieces, clothing, bags and more. Hand sewing, machine sewing, appliqué and sashiko techniques will all be used.
Bring your own scraps to enhance the material kit scrap collection. Material kit will include indigo dyed base fabric, threads and a wonderful selection of vintage Japanese fabrics.
Many samples will be on hand to inspire and study.
Bring your favorite sewing tools (scissors, needles, thimble etc) although I will also have these on hand for you to use.
It is likely to be hot so dress accordingly. We will be both inside and outside.
